Detailing clay Bar
Detailing clay bars are used to clean the paint prior to apply your exterior protection, aka Last Step Product (LSP). Detailing clay bars have the ability to clean the paint below the surface freeing up contaminates that are embedded into the clear coat. The clay will grab anything that is protruding from the clear coat and the debris will be stuck on the clay, thus removing the debris from your vehicle. The clay safely removes contaminates and leaves your paint feeling glassy smooth.
Why Clay?
- Overspray, bugs, tar, grime, slight water-spots can all be removed safely using clay
- Stubborn brake dust on wheels (yes, you can clay your wheels too!)
- Make sure to never use clay that was used on your wheels on your paint
- Paint not smooth to the touch
- Pre-polish to ensure that paint surface is clean as possible
- Used prior to applying LSP to ensure maximum bonding to the paint
TYPES OF CLAY BARS
- Medium -- More aggressive clay -- use only when needed
- Fine -- Your go-to clay bar -- Use this before proceeding to a medium grade clay, if necessary
HOW TO CLAY
- Make sure your vehicle is washed and completely dried
- Spray a small area of the vehicle with Clay Lubricant (2 sq feet)
- GENTLY rub clay bar in a straight line across the wet area. It will feel grabby at first, but once you have decontaminated the area, it will be glassy smooth
- Knead the bar to make sure not introducing recently pulled debris
- Wipe area with microfiber towel using the clay lubricant to help aid in any removal if necessary
- Make sure to keep clay and areas that you are claying well lubricated
- Continue these steps until entire vehicle is completed.
- Follow up with polishing, or LSP.
